Cook What ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Cook What.
We collect information to provide better services to our users. The types of information we collect include:
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Our application uses the Google Gemini API to generate recipe content. By using the "AI Chef" feature, you acknowledge that your ingredient, food-preference, and cuisine selections are shared with Google to facilitate content generation. Generated content is for informational purposes only; we recommend verifying all cooking instructions and safety precautions.
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. The updated release requests non-personalized ads. AdMob may still process device and advertising identifiers where permitted, IP addresses, and ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention. Where required, the app requests advertising consent before requesting ads and provides an Advertising privacy choices control in Settings. You can also manage permissions through your device settings. See Google advertising information.
Favorite recipes, food dislikes, cuisine preferences, grocery lists, personal recipe ratings, and cooked-recipe markers are stored locally on your device. Food dislikes are sent with an AI request to personalize recipe suggestions; they are taste preferences and not an allergy guarantee. AI requests are sent to our backend for processing; the backend uses device identifiers and request counts to enforce usage limits. Hosting and AI providers also process technical information needed to deliver their services. Contact us for questions about access to or deletion of information associated with your use of Cook What.
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
Google processes information under its applicable service terms and Privacy Policy. Google’s handling of Gemini inputs and outputs depends on the API service configuration. Unpaid Gemini services may use content to improve Google products and may involve human review; paid-service terms provide different protections. See the Gemini API terms. Please do not include personal, sensitive, or confidential information in recipe prompts.
The updated backend stores keyed hashes of installation identifiers, UTC dates, and daily request counts. Usage rows older than 30 days are removed when valid API requests are processed. Failed generation requests are refunded against the daily allowance. Ingredient prompts and generated recipes are processed to answer the request and are not written to application logs or a recipe database on our backend. Historical usage records follow the same cleanup rule. Hosting-provider network logs and backups, and maintenance backups created before changes, are separate from the active database and may follow different retention schedules. We will update this policy if these practices change.
To request access, correction, or deletion of information associated with your use of Cook What, email azizimohamedusa@gmail.com. We may ask for information necessary to locate the relevant records and verify your request. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights, including the right to object, restrict processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. Local app data can be removed by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it; operating-system backups may retain copies.
Recipe images can be loaded from Unsplash, which receives network information such as your IP address when images are requested. The website hosting provider processes network requests to serve these pages. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. Service providers may process information outside your country.
We update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Advertising choices and tracking permissions depend on your device, region, and the released app version; this page does not itself grant permission for tracking.
AI Chef is intended for adults aged 18 or older. The updated app asks you to confirm your age and acknowledge the sharing of recipe selections with Cook What and Google before the first AI request. Do not include children’s personal information or other sensitive information in prompts.

When images are enabled, the generated recipe title, ingredients and preparation method are sent to Google Gemini to create a food illustration. Images are illustrative and may differ from your cooked dish. Cook What stores generated images for up to 30 days and returns an unlisted image link. Saved recipes can keep a copy on your device until you remove app data. The server does not keep ingredient prompts or recipe text for image generation.
